PANJIM: Just few days after the women’s football got a push from the Goa Football Association with the announcement of the fourth edition of the GFA Vedanta Women’s League, the State footballers have made the State proud as three women have been shortlisted to represent the nation.

Scindia Saundatikar, Velanie Fernandes and Karishma  Shirvoikar have been shortlisted among the 30 probables for the National Senior Women’s Coaching Camp in preparation for the forthcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022.

All three women had made their mark in the Vedanta women’s league which gave them a platform to showcase their talent and abilities and then represent the State teams for the Indian Women’s League. The Coaching Camp will be held in Goa.

There was a time wherein the Goan football was once dominated by the men’s football but now with the State association giving equal importance over last few years, we have seen the progress of many Goan girls and women’s who have then earned their place at the national camps.

“GFA President Churchill Alemao, Carol Gomes, Chairpeson of Women’s Football and Women’s Competitions Committee, Arnald Costa, Deputy Chairman, Women’s Football and Women’s Competitions Committee congratulated the three players for being selected for the final camp,” stated a released issued by the Goa Football Association.

“They hoped that they will give their best, work sharp, raise their performance and eventually make it to the National Team, so as to keep the GFA and the State team flag flying high,” added the release.
