Albert Developers thump Cuncolim Union
MAPUSA: Albert Developers scored a thumping 5-0 win over Cuncolim Union Sports Club in the GFA Vedanta Women’s League organised by GFA played under floodlights at Duler Stadium, here on Friday.
Albert Developers surged ahead in the 8th minute when Cuncolim’s Marina Rodrigues brought down Rizella Almeida on top of the penalty box, referee Celrich Almeida with no hesitation awarded a free kick.
Scindia Saundatikar who stepped forward saw her strike sneak into the nets after a costly blunder by Cuncolim keeper Mayflower Colaco to give her side the lead.
Jozima Fernandes consolidated the lead for Albert Developers in the 19th minute providing finishing touches to Scindia Saundatikar’s free-kick.
Cuncolim keeper Mayflower made amends for her earlier mistake by smartly keeping out Mariat Cardozo’s header before the breather.
Mariat Cardozo found the net after resumption of second half by guiding the ball into the goal after Joizima’s strike rebounded off the post to make it 3-0.
Albert Developers further inflated the score sheet and pumped in two more goals through Rizella Almeida and Scindia Saundatikar whose strikes had no answer from Cuncolim keeper Mayflower Colaco.
Meanwhile, at Ambelim ground, Linda Calado scored twice as defending champions Panjim Footballers returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Ambelim Sports Club.
