All-round performance helps Vijay CC script huge win over Rudreshwar YS

PANJIM: Vijay Cricket Club registered a massive 183 runs win over Rudreshwar Yuvak Sangh in the 40th Nanda Lolayekar Trophy, at Nirakar Maidan, Mashem, on Sunday.

Electing to bat first, Vijay CC lost early wickets but a 70-run stand for first wicket between Shashank Verekar and Vaibhav Naik saw them set up a stable innings. Later, Shashank and Kaushal put up another 70-run stand to take Vijay CC to a respectable total of 263 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 35 overs.

Kaushal Hatangadi smashed an unbeaten century (110 runs in just 65 deliveries). Shashank was the second leading run-getter scoring 46 runs in 59 deliveries.

 Chasing a mammoth total, Rudreshwas lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for just 80 runs. Amit Yadav picked five wickets giving 35 runs while Keith Pinto pocketed four wickets giving just 13 runs.
