The match was evenly balanced only to be separated by Semson Fernandes’ 55th minute strike.

Ambelim SC had the first chance in the sixth minute when Samson Simoes on receiving a through pass from Jade Colaco, speed into Loutolim box but was tackled by last defender Aloysius Cardozo before the striker could pull the trigger.

Minutes later, Loutolim striker Sandeep Konde zoomed into the Ambelim area but Semsom Fernandes thwarted the move.

Ambelim keeper pulled off a stunning save as he fisted Loutolim’s Dickson Alves long range effort in a great fashion.

There was no score in the first session.

Changing ends, Loutolim began the half with an attacking intent and created the first move in the 46th minute but Hilario Fernandes couldn’t keep his composure in front of the goal as his shot ballooned over the bar.

At the other end, Ambelim almost took the lead against the run of play when Jade Colaco was fed in the box, but his well executed shot from a tight angle was brilliantly saved by rival keeper Flager Moraes.

However, Ambelim finally broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Jade found Semson Fernandes upfront and the striker showed his class dribbling past couple of rival defenders before unleashing a shot that gave no chance for the rival keeper.

Ambelim SC will meet Verna SC in the quarter-finals on May 1.
