RAIA: Ambelim Sports Club downed Nerul Sports Club 3-0 to move into the next round of the 10th Loutolim Panchayat Cup organised by SCC Loutolim, at Montir ground, Loutolim, on Friday.
Both teams played an attacking football but Nerul SC had an upper hand in the match. Aniket Naik missed the target in the 6th minute, while Ambeli SC’s Nash Pinto’s header in the 24th minute hit the crossbar and went out of play.
At half time, the score was 0-0. As the game begin after the break, in the 40th minute, Nosh sent a cross to Asfin, who well-placed the ball into the net. Later, in the 43rd minute, Asfin scored from the box with powerful shot.
After five minutes, Asfin beat the defence and goalkeeper and placed the ball into the net to complete his hat-trick.
In the injury time, Nerul SC’s Mathew Gonsalves’ powerful volley hit the crossbar and bounced back into play which was well headed by Aniket but goalkeeper of Ambelim punched away for corner.
Nerul SC’s tried their best to score but the luck did not favour them.
Asfin Pinto of Ambelim SC was awarded the man of the match by the club member Mandar.
