SIRLIM: Ambelim Sports Club got the better of St Anthony Sports Club, Marna-Siolim 6-3 to sail into the semi-finals of 23rd All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Saturday.
In the second minute, Ambelim Sports Club opened the scoreline through Ashwin. Ashwin doubled the lead in the eighth minute.
Ambelim further inflated the lead through Samson Fernandes with a powerful right footer in the 12th minute and made it 3-0
Siolim’s Dalesh Pednekar pulled a goal back to make it 1-3 with a beautiful through pass from Mayuresh Naik in the 28th minute.
Ambelim fired from all cylinders and netted three more goals through Ashwin Pinto, Samson Fernandes and Jeniton D’Silva in the 32nd, 48th and 50th minutes respectively to make it 6-1.
Siolim netted two more goals through Sahil Pompuberkar and Vipul Pednekar in the 67th and 70th minutes respectively and made it 3-6 for Siolim.
