PANJIM: Ambelim Sports Club scored a hard fought 7-6 sudden-death win over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda and qualified for the finals of 15th London Trophy inter-village football tournament 2023 at Goa Velha Sports Club ground, today. There was no score at full time.
Ambelim came close to scoring on a number of occasions especially in the second half but missed opportunities through Semson Fernandes, Vishal Araker and Asfin Pinto. At the other end, Don Bosco Oratory also had some chances but Charles Miranda, Roque Borges lacked sharp shooting skills.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Ambelim scored through Vishal Araker, Perryson Fernandes, Prinson Fernandes, Asfin Pinto, Ozen Silva, Leister Fernandes and Semson Fernandes.
Don Bosco Oratory scored through Charles Miranda, Velton D'Souza, Hanslum Furtado, Alfred Noronha, Syden Furtado, Valito Miranda. Elroy Barreto shot wide.
Asfin Pinto of Ambelim was awarded the man-of -the match prize by Anthony Rego.
