Stuti, Nathan top in Sub-Junior girls and boys; Agastya, Riya shine in Cadets; Pawan awarded Promising Player of the tournament prize
PANJIM: Anshuman Agarwal and Utkarsha Shivani emerged champions in the Youth boys and girls singles category in the 3rd Late Purushottam V.P. Navelcar Memorial All-Goa non ranking table tennis tournament organised by Panaji Ganeshotsav Samiti and Panjim Table Tennis Club, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa and Goa Table Tennis Association.
In the finals played at Table Tennis Hall, Athletics Stadium, Bambolim, Anshuman defeated Aaron Colaco 3-1 (11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8) while Utkarsha put it across Simran Kubal with a similar 3-1 margin (11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9).
In Sub-Junior girls finals, Stuti Shivani ousted Tanisha Parsekar 3-1 (11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8) while the match between Nathan Barua and Aaron Colaco went the whole distance with the former winning the battle with a 3-2 (11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9) scoreline.
In Cadets boys finals, Agastya Motwani cruised past Siddhant Parsekar winning 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-9). Riya Gopi emerged cadets girls singles champion, recording a 3-1 (11-7, 6-11, 11-8, 11-7) win over Ridhima Naik.
Following semi-finals prizes were awarded: Rishan Sheikh and Darren Duarte (Cadets boys), Davia Pinto and Rida Sheikh (girls); Amogh Bawachikar and Advait Mudras (Sub-Junior boys), Riya Gopi and Davia Pinto (girls); Advait Mudras and Nathan Barua (Youth boys) and Stuti Shivani and Saimira Kamat (girls).
Pawan Vishwakarma was awarded Promising Player of the tournament prize.
Kabir Pinto Makhija (former deputy mayor, CCP), Sidharth Sakhardande (assistant engineer, Electricity Department), Lenie Do Rosario (former State TT player) and organising members Noel Noronha, Selvyn Godimho, Sandeep Heble, Selvyn Godinho, Gaurang Bhangui and Sahil Kamat graced the closing function.
