RAIA: Ave Maria Camp Whites defeated Ave Maria A 5-4 in the final to win the Ave Maria Camp Trophy 2024 football tournament played at Benaulim ground, recently.
In a very closely contested match, Norville Fernandes opened the scoring for Ave Maria A in the 4th minute and a few minutes later Ave Maria A doubled their advantage through Samuel Pereira.
Samuel scored again to make it 3-0 in favour of the A team. Niyaz Shaik and Tyrone Goes reduced the deficit for the Ave Maria Camp Whites before the break.
At half time, Ave Maria A were leading 3-2.
Jasmine Baral and Abigail Gracias displayed good attacking play and skill in the midfield for the Ave Maria Camp Whites.
After resumption of play, Jovito Ratos scored for Ave Maria A to increase their advantage to 4-2. Tyrone scored again twice, to complete his hat-trick and level the score at 4-4. Aden Furtado displayed good defensive work along with Ifino Noronha who later produced excellent saves for Ave Maria A. Eswein Rodrigues also produced excellent saves for the Ave Maria Camp Whites to keep them in the match.
There were also notable performances by Shib who fed some good crosses for the Ave Maria A team. Abigail netted the winner for the Ave Maria Camp Whites in the dying seconds to make it 5-4.
