Ayush,Swera win State U-17 Chess Championship

PERNEM: Ayush Shirodkar and WCM Swera Braganca won the state U-17 Chess Championship in the open & girls categories respectively organised by Pernem taluka Chess Association under the aegis of Goa Chess Association, recently.

Ayush Shirodkar of Salcete Taluka scored 6.5 points with 6 wins and a draw. He defeated Om Barde in the 6th round and Devesh Naik in the final round.  Anirudh Parsekar of Mormugao Taluka stood second and Paarth Salvi of Bardez Taluka finished third.

 Both of them scored 6 points each. 

 WCM Swera Braganca, Tanvi Hadkonkar and WCM Gunjal Chopdekar scored 6 points each from 7 rounds but due to a better tie-breaker Swera won first place, Tanvi came second while Gunjal finished in third place.

The first 2 players in each category will represent Goa in the U-17 National which is to be held in Haryana from September 3 to 11

Vallabh Varadkar Sarpanch of Dhargal Panchayat was the chief guest  and distributed the prizes in the presence Vishwas Pilankar (Treasurer GCA), Vasant Naik (President, Pernem Taluka), Subhash Parsekar (Secretary Pernem Taluka), Arvind Mhamal (Chief Arbiter), Satyawan Harmalkar ( Jt Secretary GCA), Pradip Patekar Member VP Dhargal and other dignitaries.
