VASCO: Prof. Raghurama G, the director of BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla, Goa Campus  inaugurated two newly built synthetic tennis courts at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. 

A press release issued by BITS Pilani stated that student's tennis team members expressed their happiness for building international standard courts in the campus. 

Captain of the boy's team, Joshua Thampy and Sports Secretary, Devashish Rane thanked the Director for supporting the sports culture and getting such high standard sports infrastructure in the campus which benefits the overall development of students. 

After the inaugural function, an exhibition match was played between the students’ teams.

Dr. Chandu G. Lamani, Physical Education Instructor and In-Charge-Sports Activity Centre & Sports, along with other senior officials including Prof. Bharat M Deshpande (Acting Dean, Administration), A K Patil (Estate Manager),Prof. Ramesha C.K. (Associate Dean, Students Welfare Division), Prof. Angshuman Sarkar (Chief Warden) were present during the inaugural function.

Dr. Chandu Lamani said, “The facility has two hi-tech synthetic courts which are all-weather, fully synthetic and are built as per international parameters and standards. The courts, along with exclusive player sitting gallery and a spectator sitting gallery, are built at a cost of around Rs.43 lakhs.  The courts will be most appropriate during the monsoon as even after a heavy rain, it can be cleared in about 15 minutes to provide a slip free court to the players.”

These courts will give students a chance to experience world class facilities while playing and BITS Goa can host tennis tournaments of both national and international level in the future. 

Tennis courts are built besides the two world-class synthetic basketball courts, which were inaugurated last year.
