PANJIM: The indoor sports complexes across Goa opened up for resumption of sports activities after two and a half months of lockdown, following the restrictions lifted by Goa Government, on Monday.

The stadiums at Campal, Peddem and Ponda were among the ones that were opened up and badminton trainees and players were seen commencing their practices at these venues.

"We welcome the decision of the Goa Government to open up Indoor sports complexes. Our players were feeling very suffocated last few months and are extremely delighted with the resumption of sports activities. Research shows that sports boosts immunity and is essential to combat diseases including Corona. Our Badminton Federation has announced National calendar and it is important that our Shuttlers resume focus and training, otherwise they will be left behind. Goa Badminton Association is also scheduled to host two National level events within next few months, so our players are very excited and looking forward to putting up a good performance. We will follow all prescribed SOPs and hopefully there will be no further lockdowns as players have been hit very badly with stadiums closed last 3 months, " said the Goa Badminton Association in a release.
