Betalbaim SC enter quarters; PVC Parra, Fatorda Veterans win

NAVELIM: Betalbatim SC downed Sao Jose de Areal 3-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Goa Tiger Cup 2022, at Our Lady of Rosary Church ground, Navelim, Salcete on Tuesday. 

Marcus Mascarenhas opened the score-line for Sao Jose de Areal in the 11th minute but the joy was short-lived as Klusner equalised for Betalbatim sc in the 17th minute. 

It was the man-of-the-match Klusner who netted the second goal for Betalbatim SC in the 48th minute. 

Just few minutes left for the final whistle, Ronaldo too added his name on the scoresheet to make it 3-1 for Betalbatim SC. 

At Poriat ground, PVC Parra edged past Calangute Association 6-4 via the tie-breaker. The teams were locked 2-2 at full time.

Floyd Pereira and Joston Cardozo scored for Parra while Narmesh Kundlikar and Jovito Fernandes were on target for Calangute.

Parra kept their cool in the penalty shoot-out.

In the first match of the Veterans category, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, Fatorda Veterans defeated Candolim Veterans 2-0 

The teams went head-to-head in the first half and were locked goalless. 

However, Santan Futardo broke the deadlock in the 40th minute and then went on to secure his brace in the 56th minute to seal victory for Fatorda. 

Candolim’s Vincent Almeida was adjudged man-of-the-match.
