BENAULIM: Betalbatim Sporting defeated Rosary Boys Davorlim 4-3 via the tie-breaker to move into quarterfinals of the New Era Club Inter-Village Under-14 tournament, organised by New Era Club Benaulim, at Xemu moll ground, Benaulim on Thursday.
The match was evenly balanced in the first session as both the teams played attacking football. Betalbatim took the lead in the 10th minute through Joel D'Silva whose powerful volley gave no chance to the Davorlim keeper.
After the change of end, Davorlim accelerated the tempo and went all out looking for the equaliser. They kept piling pressure on Betalbatim and their efforts finally paid off when Nikhil netted the leveller in the 35th minute.
As the game progressed, both teams played possession football and kept the ball limited to the midfield. In the resultant tie-breaker, Betalbatim Boys proved to be better shooters.
Joel D'Silva of Betalbatim SC was declared man-of-the-match.
