PANJIM/ MARGAO: In a one-sided affair, Calangute Association overpowered Youth Club of Manora 6-0 in the Goa Football Association (Relegation League) at Chowgule ground, on Friday.

Ganesh (13’, 79’) scored a brace while Rohan Kamble (70’), Jovito Fernandes (66’), Moises D’Sa (74’) and Desmon Gama (90+4’) were the other goal scorers for the winning side.

Calangute scored the first goal in the 13th minute when Ganesh slotted home from close range. At the other end, Manora had an opportunity to get the equaliser when they were awarded a penalty but much to their dismay Prosenjit Chakdaborty saw his effort hit the post.

With nothing more to offer in the first half, Calangute were dominant in the second period where Jovito doubled the tally. Calangute were then awarded a penalty which was converted by Rohan Kamble. Moises D’Sa scored the fourth goal when Chaitan Dabolkar made the initial move on the flank before setting it up for the former, who scored past the keeper.

Ganesh completed his brace when he scored a brilliant goal chipping the ball over the onrushing Manora custodian.

Manora had their chances in the game. Prosenjit, who earlier missed a first half penalty had the opportunity to make amends to his earlier miss, but the lad was wasteful upfront. He then had a shot at goal late in the second half, which was easily saved by the rival custodian. Meanwhile, Eldon showed individual brilliance, dodging a couple of defenders only to see his strike being punched away by the Calangute’s custodian. In the dying minutes of the game, Manora conceded their sixth when Ganesh played a brilliant pass to Desmon, who showed his composure in front of the goal before scoring past the helpless keeper.

Meanwhile at Duler Stadium, Panjim Footballers’ Arif netted a brilliant injury time equaliser to help his side script a 1-1 draw against Guardian Angel SC.

The Curchorem side were first to score in the 28th minute through Fulganco. It almost looked like Fulganco’s strike would be the difference in the game. However in the injury time, Panjim were lucky to get the equaliser when Arif smashed in a volley from outside the box, landed straight at the back of the net.
