MAPUSA: Calangute Association SC stunned their opponents Cortalim Villagers 5-1 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Tuesday.
Die-hard Calangute Association supporters were vociferous every time their players scored a goal.
Salcete side outfit Cortalim Villagers coach Jude Baretto who saw his team have a fine outing in the ongoing league could not believe being humbled by the Bardez beachside team and that too with such a big margin.
It was U-21 Fazil D'Souza who drew the first blood in the 9th minute of play only to find Cortalim Villagers star striker Vikram Venkatchalam level terms, 1-1.
Calangute Association not only took the lead through Jovito Fernandes but saw Richard Cardozo, Dalwin Coelho and Vernon Pereira pump in three more goals to complete the rout to 5-1.
Calangute Association stopper back George D’Souza who excelled in the defence was rightly awarded the man-of-the-match award, which was presented by Young Boys of Tonca coach Alex Alvares.
At Siraim ground, Sesa Football Academy trounced Guardian Angel SC 5-0.
Sankalp Kankonkar netted a brace, while Chaitan Dabholkar, Clencio Pinto and Joshua D’Silva scored for the winners. Sesa FA topped the table with 45 points after 23 games.
