MARGAO: Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem routed Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim 5-0 to storm into the semi-final of Salcete Taluka under-17 girl’s Subroto Mukerjee inter-school football tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Manora ground, Raia, on Wednesday.
Carmel Higher Secondary outplayed their opponents in all departments of the game. The highlight of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by striker Velanie Fernandes while Valanka D’Souza and Sizel D’Costa were the other scorers.
In another quarter-final, Manovikas English Medium School, Margao grounded The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal 2-0. Shanon Rodrigues and Schnia Gomes accounted one goal each.
