PANJIM: CanSurvive, a project by Caritas Goa organised Cup of Life, a celebrity exhibition football match to raise awareness on early detection of cancer, at The Base turf, in Seraulim, recently.
Celebrities from the fields of fashion, music and sports namely, Padmashri Brahmanand Sankwalkar, Mukesh Ghatwal, Philu Martins, Joanne Da Cunha, Micky Fernandes, Robert Fernandes, Varun Carvalho, Verma Dmello, Alvito D’Cunha, Velrose Pereira, Climax Lawrence, Cavin Lobo and Franky Fernandes offered their services to support the noble cause.
North Goa defeated South Goa. The Golden boot trophy for the ‘star of the match’ was awarded to Robert Fernandes.
Fr. Maverick Fernandes, Director Caritas Goa appealed to the spectators to enroll themselves as volunteers of CanSurvive in order to enhance its network. He also encouraged the crowd to approach their respective panchayats and municipalities to organize cancer detection camps along with the health services.
