Chandor Club win shootout

SAO JOSE  DE AREAL: Chandor Club got the better of Our Lady of Gloria Raia SC 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter into the quarter-finals of the Areal Panchayat cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC, at Padribhat Sao Jose  de Areal football ground, on Thursday. 

Both teams were locked in a goalless at full time. 

In the tie-breaker, Chandor Club netted through Joaquim Carvalho, Sevraj D’Costa, Melvin Carvalho and Jeson Martins while Joston Barbosa and Movin Gaonkar found the net for Our Lady of Gloria SC, Raia. Jeston Barbosa of Our Lady of Gloria SC, Raia, was declared as the man-of-the-match 

In another match on Wednesday, Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, defeated Fr Agnel YC Paroda 6-5 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarterfinals.

Fatorda’s  Roque Borges’ curling free-kick dipped into the Paroda net in the 48th minute but the joy was short-lived as Paroda’s Joel  Furtado equalised in the 54th minute after an assist by  Ciril Dias. In the tie-breaker, Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, netted through Maxwell Furtado, Charles Miranda, Hanslum Furtado, Velton D’Souza and Alfred Noronha while Kanchan Kiro, Joel Furtado, Xylyn Oliveira and Doyson D’Costa found the net for Fr Agnel YC, Paroda.
