Chapora YS hammer OL Gloria SC; UB Ambaulim hold Vagator PYSC

MAPUSA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh hammered Our Lady of Gloria SC, Raia, 6-1 in GFA's Second Division play-off match at Duler stadium, here on Thursday.

In the other match, United Boys of Ambaulim held Vagator PYSC to a 2-2 draw.

Chapora opened their account in the 18th minute. Shario Gomes collected a long pass from Sankalp Kankonkar and placed it in.

Chapora could have doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Albino Pereira dribbled past a host of defenders and relayed it to Sachidanand Satelkar who in turn set up Pratik Naik inside the penalty

box, but the last named shot wide.

As the match progressed, Sachidanand and Pratik Naik's two goal- bound efforts were saved by Raia goalkeeper Jake Medeira.

On crossing over, Raia leveled terms. A through ball by Alvito Dias was collected by Danny Fernandes who dribbled past two Chapora defenders and beat onrushing Chapora custodian Soma Korgaonkar.

It was Chapora who took over and Sachidanand Satelkar score a hat-trick, two goals being from the penalty spot.

Two players of Raia, Leran Dias and Imson Fernandes received marching orders from referee Ritesh Parsekar following double booking.

In the added time, Sankalp Kankonkar added his name to the scorers list to complete the rout.

In the other match, in the very 2nd minute, Ambaulim's Bradley Carvalho controlled a long ball from Anthony Fernandes,darted inside the penalty box and beat the onrushing Vagator goalkeeper Samson Gomes.

Stung by the reverse Vagator attacked the rival territory in search of the equalizer which they got in the 21st minute as Reeve D’Costa connected Jovito Dias' cross.

Vagator almost took the lead in the 35th minute but Ambaulim’s custodian Ibon Fernandes effected a brilliant save to deny Laimanrao Rane. However, in the 43rd minute Reeve was the provider and Jovito  gave the finishing touches to put Vagator ahead.

After the interval, the proceedings were equally contested and Kevin Fernandes came with the equaliser for Ambaulim with a neat placement.
