Churchil Bros ease past Velsao SCC

PANJIM: Churchill Brothers SC recorded an easy 2-0 win over Velsao Sports and Cultural Club in the Goa Football Association’s Goa Professional League match played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.

The match began on equal footings as both teams played the ball more in the midfield. However, Churchill Brothers SC did take the chance which came their way and took the lead in the 39thminute through Jovel Martins. The Varca-based team led 1-0 at the break.

Crossing over, Velsao SCC did try to get back into the game but they suffered a blow in the 66thminute as Uttam Rai scored the team’s second.

  

GFA Third Division League

A goal in either half of the play from Manuel Rodrigues helped ABC SC Arambol score a narrow 2-1 win over FC Siolim, in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Chapora ground, on Wednesday.


GFA U-14 League

Dunes SC thumped Anjuna Gymkhana 4-1 in the GFA U-14 Legaue match played at Anjuna ground, on Wednesday.

Crenial Fernandes gave Dunes the lead in the sixth minute and a Jagdish own goal further inflated the tally to 2-0. Gajanan K  pulled a goal back Anjuna in the 14th minute . Minutes later, Anshal Fernandes scored the third for Dunes. Changing ends, Renel D’Mello netted the fourth in the 70th minute.

At Assonora ground, St Anthony SC Marna eased their way past Siddeshwar SCC 4-1. Domnic Fernandes scored a brace for the winners while D Kaskar and Mihir Mhaldar were the other goal scorers for Marna. Manthan Karmalkar got on to the score sheet for the losing side.

At Sesa Academy ground, Sanquelim, Sesa FA registered a fluent 3-0 win over YSC Colvale. The winners led 1-0 at the break after Mohit Shirodkar gave the academy boys the lead in the 14thminute.

Changing ends, Jeff Dias and Selroy Coutinho netted a goal each to take the final tally to 3-0.

Dempo beat Goa United 4-1 at Poriat ground, Calangute. Dempo opened their tally in the 20th minute after a good cross from Velanco Rodrigues from the right wing found Necio Fernandes who calmly slotted the ball into the net. Three minutes later, a back pass from Goa United player proved costly as Vieri Colaco latched on to the ball to beat the goal keeper and double the lead. Dempo led 2-0 at the break.

Necio Fernandes registered a brace in the 61st minute while Dwayne Neto added his name to score sheet in 63rd minute to give Dempo a commanding 4-0 lead before Goa United managed to pull one back in the 69th minute
