MAPUSA: Panjim Footballers stunned Guardian Angel SC 4-2 in the Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy organised by Goa Football Association at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.

The highlight of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by Panjim Footballers Crespo D’Souza. Ajay Raj drew the first blood, while for Guardian Angel SC colts Antush Moniz and Godwin Fernandes scored.

Panjim Footballers colts did what was required in the first quarter of the match by scoring thrice, due to Guardian Angel SC’s defensive error.

In the very 2nd minute, a cross by Meislein Barreto was misjudged by Guardian Angel SC’s stopper back Fulganco Cardozo to find unmarked Ajay Raj to guide the ball into the net, 1-0.

Just two minutes later, this time Panjim Footballers’ Crespo got the better of Guardian Angel SC’s defender Peter Carvalho and scored 2-0.

Guardian Angel SC should have reduced the margin but striker Joywin Costa fumbled in front of the Panjim Footballers’ goal.

Another defensive error this time by the Guardian Angel SC’s custodian saw Crespo score in the unguarded goal 3-0.

At the other end, another glorious chance went in vain for Guardian Angel SC’s when a rasping strike by Antush Moniz was brilliantly paired for a corner by Panjim Footballers’ custodian Vipin Sharma.

Capital side had two more chances to further increase their lead but goalkeeper Oswin thwarted Crespo and Ajay Raj in one to one situation.

However, in the 40th minute Guardian Angel SC’s defender Peter Carvalho was beaten by Crespo who then scored past the onrushing substitute custodian Pratheesh Veettil 4-0.

Guardian Angel SC colts had a mountain to climb as they took the field in the second session.

Antush Moniz missed an open sitter in the 65th minute but made amends as he scored a superb goal with a scorching left footer 4-1.

Minutes later Panjim Footballers’ custodian Vipin came with back to back saves to deny James Fernandes strike and Milroy Clement header entering the goal.

Two offside calls by the referee at the instructions from his assistance was found incorrect by Guardian Angel SC’s Manager Anand Rodrigues who was sent off for using abusive language by Referee Ritesh Parsekar.

In the added time, substitute Godwin Fernandes scored the second goal for Guardian Angel SC, 4-2.
