Cricket tourney to build camaraderie between industry, trade & commerce

PANJIM: The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will hold their second edition of the GCCI Alliance Cup Cricket Tournament on April 21, at the Panjim Gymkhana ground, Campal, here, from 9 am.

The team jerseys, trophies and the tournament draw were unveiled at a function at the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry office, here, recently.  

In his address, GCCI Managing Committee member and GCCI captain Rajesh Dempo said, “This is the second edition of tournament and we had a huge response for the first edition last year. Teams from Goa Police, VIA, GCCI, Goa State Industries Association  

(GSIA), Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and a combined bankers’ team are participating this year. Cricket is a binding factor and GCCI has been organising this tournament to build camaraderie between industry, trade and commerce.” 

GCCI Director General Sanjay Amonkar said, “Six teams would be divided in two groups of three teams each and the group winners would play the final. The age limit is 35 years and above. It is a six over tennis cricket tournament.”

Deputy Superintendent Wilson D’Souza, Sudesh Rane (GSIA), Anand Mishra (VIA), Jack Suhkija (TTAG) and Parmeshwar Navgrahe team captains also spoke. The inauguration of the GCCI Alliance Cup will be held at 9 am and the first match will commence at 9.15 am.
