SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Curtorim Gymkhana registered a solitary goal victory over St Rock YC Majorda to enter the quarter-finals of the Areal Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Sao Jose de Areal SC, at Padribhat Sao Jose de Areal football ground, on Tuesday.
Nalister Silveira of Curtorim gave his best with his dribbling, assists and power packed shots.
Nalister Silveira took control of the ball from Vicky Cardozo dribbled past a couple of Majorda defenders and shot from close range but Majorda keeper Edward Fernandes pushed away the ball to safety in the second minute.
Johan Dias and Kevin Almeida of Majorda missed chances to score in the fourth and sixth minutes respectively. This time Nalister Silveira of Curtorim didn't made the mistake after collecting the ball from Vicky Cardozo who took a perfect curler which sailed into Majorda net in the 13th minute.
Majorda tried their best to score but the Curtorim defence line guarded their fort till the final whistle.
