Melvin breaks the deadlock in the 38th minute while Stephen doubles the advantage in the 52nd minute

CUNCOLIM: Curtorim Gymkhana got the better of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 2-0 in the final of the 7th Cuncolim Union Rolling Trophy, organized by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim ground, recently. 
After a barren first session, Melvin Fernandes broke the deadlock for Curtorim Gymkhana in the 38th minute while Stephen Fernandes doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute. 
In the tenth minute, Don Bosco Oratory’s Cliff Barretto could have scored but the latter’s move was blocked by Melvin.
Soon, Stephen had all the time to pull the trigger from close range after receiving the ball from Marcus but his shot hit the goalpost and went out for an abortive corner-kick.
Striker Hanslum Furtado had two quick chances in the 21st and 22nd minute for Don Bosco Oratory but shot wide on both the occasions.
With change of ends, Curtorim Gymkhana surged ahead in the 38th minute through Melvin as he headed in a cross from Stephen.
Then onwards, Curtorim Gymkhana gained confidence but young Clencio Pinto ballooned over while Melvin’s header missed the target narrowly. 
Finally, Placidinho Fernandes sent in a diagonal through ball to Stephen, who unleashed a fierce shot to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
Rtd. Chief Justice of Allhabad High Court, Ferdinho Rebello was the chief guest. MLA of Cuncolim Constituency, Rajan Naik was also present amongst GFA President, Elvis Gomes; Chairperson of Cuncolim Municipal Council, Lavita Mascarenhas and other dignitaries.
The winners were awarded Rs 35,000 and a trophy while the runners-up took home Rs 25,000 and a trophy.
The individual prizes were awarded to the following players. Best defender: Saviour Fernandes (Curtorim Gymkhana), Best striker: Hanslum Furtado (Don Bosco Oratory), Best goalkeeper: Macklon Fernandes (Don Bosco Oratory), Best midfielder: Marcus Fernandes (Curtorim Gymkhana), Best player of the final: Melvin Fernandes (Curtorim Gymkhana) and Best disciplined team: Dramapur SC.
Club president, Prakash Dessai welcomed. Dinesh Naik compered while Nilesh Kunde proposed the vote of thanks.
