CUNCOLIM: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda edged past Chandor Club 1-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Cuncolim Union Trophy inter-village football tournament organised Cuncolim Union, at Government Village School Play ground, Cuncolim, on Wednesday.

Don Bosco Oratory made a strong start and held slight edge and got the breakthrough in the 19th minute when striker Roque Borges slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot off  a well measured pass from Sneeden Madeira.

Chandor Club regrouped quickly and had couple of scoring chances but their forwards misfired from close range.

Chandor Club had their best chance midway in the opening session when Mario Noronha had only the rival goalkeeper to beat but he shot the ball wide from close range.

At the other end, Don Bosco Oratory too had their share of chances and looked to increase their tally but Minguel Baretto shot the ball straight into the hands of the  Chandor Club goalkeeper.

The Don Bosco Oratory team started the second half on the same note as Roger Azavedo shot the ball wide. Minguel Baretto’s weak shot went straight into the safe hands of the rival goalkeeper.

With time running out, Chandor Club went all out in search of equaliser and had a golden opportunity to level the score but striker Jovito Carvalho blasted the ball wide from close distance.
