FATORDA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda edged past Raia Sporting Club 2-1 to march into the semi-finals of All Goa Bro Eulalio Vas memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, at Don Bosco Oratory ground, on Tuesday.
Both teams dished out a brand of attacking football in the first half with Raia striker Eldon Colaco who made inroads by moving the ball inside the Don Bosco box after dodging past defenders Alfred Noronha and John Colaco fourth and eighth minute but the latter on both occasions shot above the Don Bosco cross bar.
Later in the tenth minute, Don Bosco midfielder Cliff Barretto’s long ranger was saved by Raia keeper Alloy Vaz.
A sudden solo move by Raia defender Sockey Cardozo who unleashed a power-packed shot from the top of the Don Bosco box was well saved by Don Bosco keeper Swizel Pereira in the 21st minute.
It was Don Bosco striker Francis Andrade who served the ball on the platter to Edgar Noronha who placed the ball inside the Raia net with just a minute left for the first half.
After the start of the second half, Edgar Noronha scored his brace to make it 2-0 for Don Bosco and later in the last quarter of the match, Raia pulled a goal back through Danny Fernandes.
Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda will now meet the winners of Navelim SC and Parish Youth Nuvem in the semi-final.
