CUNCOLIM: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda defeated Cuncolim Union 3-1 in the final of all-Goa 9th Cuncolim Union Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union, at Government Village school ground, Cuncolim, recently.

CUNCOLIM: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda defeated Cuncolim Union 3-1  in the final of all-Goa 9th Cuncolim Union Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by  Cuncolim Union, at Government Village school ground, Cuncolim, recently.

Bharat Gaonkar the striker of Cuncolim shot the ball which was blocked by Mingel Baretto defender of Don Bosco in the third minute. 

In the 9th minute, Don Bosco scored the first through Cabin Araujo’s header off Cliff Baretto’s corner kick but the joy was short lived as within ten minutes Bharat Gaonkar scored the equaliser for Cuncolim with a placement shot off Frazier Fernandes’ assist.

As the match progressed, Don Bosco’s Velroy Pinto’s and Necil Pinto’s shots were saved by Shaikh Sahil thekeeper of Cuncolim. Minutes later, Don Bosco made it 2-1 through Francis Andrade in the 24th minute.

 Micky Fernandes the central midfielder of Cuncolim failed to dip the ball into the Don Bosco net. Francis Andrade shot was saved by Cuncolim keeper in the 45th minute. Francis made it 3-1 for Don Bosco in the 55th minute.

 The winners collected Rs. 40000 while the runners-up pocketed Rs.30000 plus trophies.

Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, former Indian team captain and Arjuna Awardee gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Clafasio Dias, MLA of Cuncolim constituency, Elvis Gomes, GFA president and other dignitaries.
