RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, scored a 4-2 win via tie-breaker over Peddem Bomm Sports Club, Anjuna to move into the quarter-finals of 16th London Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament 2024 organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at Goa Velha Sports Club ground, on Monday.

Don Bosco Oratory had the first look at the goal when a Hanslum Furtado saw his effort deflected for a corner by the Peddem Bomm Sports Club defender in the 8th minute of play. 

Off the resultant corner, Velton D’Souza headed wide from a close with only the Peddem Bomm SC keeper Soma Korgaonkar to beat off a cross from veteran Francis Andrade. 

At the other end, Sagun Shirodkar of Peddem Bomm SC saw his effort saved by a diving Karol Soares in the Don Bosco Oratory goal in the 19th minute of play. Don Bosco Oratory again missed an opportunity to go ahead when a corner floated by Francis was headed into the crowded defence by another veteran Roque Borges in the 26th minute. 

Sagun Shirodkar of Peddem Bomm SC after dribbling past a couple of players shot tamely into the waiting hands of Don Bosco Oratory keeper Karol Soares in the 29th minute. Both teams were locked goalless at half time.

Don Bosco Oratory retaliated and immediately found the equaliser through the boots of reliable veteran striker Francis Andrade in the 55th minute of play. Both teams tried their level best to score the winner but failed to do so. The match ended with 1-1 scoreline.

In the resultant tiebreaker, Peddem Bomm SC scored only through Soma Korgaonkar. Kunal Virnodkar and Sagun Shirodkar shot was saved by Don Bosco Oratory keeper Karol. Kreepal Dhargalkar saw his shot hit the side post. 

Don Bosco Oratory scored through Francis, Milder Soares and Fr Mario Noronha. Velton D'Souza saw his effort hit the side post. 

Kunal Virnodkar of Peddem Bomm SC and Velton D’Souza of Don Bosco Oratory were cautioned by the match referee Melroy D’Silva for reckless tackle. Myron Fernandes was cautioned for breaking a promising move.

Karol Soares of Don Bosco Oratory was awarded the man-of-the-match award by Adolf Caiado, player and member of Goa Velha Sports Club based in the United Kingdom.
