Sporting Clube trounce Panjim Footballers

MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club drubbed Goan Warriors SC 3-0 in the GFA's U-20 Taca Goa First Division League, at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.

With Saturday’s win, Dempo remain unbeaten with six points from two matches while Goan Warriors have no points having lost both their matches.

Dempo had the first attempt in the 18th minute when Altroy Rodrigues rasping left footer zoomed past the goal post after being teed up by Ariston Costa.

However minutes later, Altroy Rodrigues managed to find the back of the net from a rebound after Ariston’s fierce shot hit Goan Warriors defender Shramen.

Goan Warriors who were hampered with injuries to their key players had the first chance when Harsher’s free-kick found Sameer who could not get past Dempo keeper Wellyster Mendes from close range.

Warriors nearly punished Dempo in the 33rd minute when Kidron’s back header caught keeper Wellyster on the wrong foot but Warrior’s Mayuresh was a bit late in getting to the loose ball and smashing it into the empty net.

Crossing ends, Dempo should have doubled their lead in the 57th minute when a neat build up play between Ariston and Altroy found Flyod who only with the keeper at his mercy blasted the ball wide.

Dempo got the second goal from the penalty spot which was calmly dispatched by Kidron Fernandes after Anil Desai was pulled up by the referee for fouling substitute Prutuesh Pednekar inside the penalty box. It was a major jolt for Warriors as it was Anil Desai second booking in the match.

Clive Colaco fired the third goal with a deft placement in the added time after being found by Kidron with a long ball inside the goal area to make it 3-0.

Meanwhile at Don Bosco ground, Panjim, Sporting Clube de Goa trounced Panjim Footballers 6-0.

Sporting Clube totally dominated the play from the word go and scored at regular intervals.

Delton Colaco and Richard Cardozo scored a brace for the winners while Aman Govekar and Standley Fernandes scored a goal each.

Panjim Footballers Karol Soares received marching orders.
