Abranches nets a hat-trick while Chandan and Pedro also get their names on the board for the Golden Eagles

OLD GOA: Dempo Sports Club inflicted a heavy 5-1 defeat upon Corps of Signals in the GFA Goa Professional League match played at Ella ground, on Saturday.

Joaquim Abranches scored a fine hat-trick to continue his goals scoring form for the Golden Egales while, O Chandan and Pedro Gonsalves were the other goal scorers for Dempo.

The win takes Dempo SC to 47 points to further consolidate their lead at the top after playing 19 games while Corps Of Signals stay on 16 points from 20 games and are in 9th position.

Playing at their fortress, Dempo SC were stunned by an early blow when Suklab B gave Signals the lead on the 20th minute. However Dempo SC looked determined and attacked in numbers to find the much needed equaliser. 

The team played the ball more on the flanks and finally found the equalising goal in the 37th minute through Chandan.

In the second half it was an all-Dempo affair as the home team totally outplayed their opponent in all the departments of the game. 

Joaquim Abranches was the star player in the second session as he completed his hat-trick in 13th minutes scoring his first in the 54th minute. 

He then scored his brace at the hour mark before completing his hat-trick in the 67th minute.

Pedru Gonsalves scored the teams 5th goal in the 86th minute to complete the route.

Nauxim SC win

Sagar Faterpekar scored the lone goal of the game as Nauxim Sports Club scored a narrow 1-0 win over United Sports Club Mardol in the Goa Football Association Second Division League game played at Taleigao ground, on Saturday. 

After Nauxim led 1-0 at the break, neither sides were able to score in the second half.
