OLD GOA: Dempo Sports Club scored a resounding 11-0 win over Dunes Sports Club in the Goa Football Association U-14 League play-offs (North semi-final) match held at Dempo Academy ground, on Thursday.

Coach Pradip Chopdekar had his full squad at his disposal and the players put up an all-round performance displaying skills and endurance on the pitch. Dempo opened the scoring in the 4th minute from a corner kick when Topon Mirj’s delivery was converted by a Manas Patil header.

Soon it was Leethan Silveira with another chance when he dribbled past two rival defenders but he fumbled with only the keeper at his mercy.

In the 15th minute, Asmon Viegas scored the team’s second goal. Winger Topon Mirj played an aerial delivery from the left flank to Asmon, who controlled the ball before smashing in the far corner.

In the next minute, Leethan inflated the lead to make it 3-0 when he was fed by Topon before the latter did the initial spadework.

In the 30th minute Leethan Silveira played an aerial through ball to Asmon Viegas, who made no mistake to make it 4-0. They led 4-0 at the break.

Crossing over, Dempo Sports Club continued from where they had left from. With plenty of room for himself, Topon took a long range strike which was poorly dealt by the Dunes keeper and Rabi Pun was the fastest to react to push the ball in the goal.

Dunes were nowhere in the game as Dempo SC kept scoring. Leethan completed his brace in the next minute. In the 47th minute, Dunes Sports Club goalkeeper’s poorly taken goal kick landed straight to Topon who scored in style to increase the tally.

Rubi Pun and Topon also completed his brace before Cristiano Gomes got on to the score sheet.

However, it was Asmon who managed to complete his treble when he scored his third goal in style in the 67th minute as the final score read 11-0 in favour of the young Eagles.
