MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club registered a fluent 3-1 win over Panjim Footballers in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
At the breather, Golden Eagles scored through Chinkhoslam Dimngel and Faseen PK.
On crossing ends, substitute Mevan Dias scored the third goal for the winners.
Panjim Footballers’ skipper Maximo D'Costa pulled a goal. Golden Eagles did have better ball possession and attacks at the rival goal but Salgeo Dias strike was cleared by Panjim's defender for a corner while a hot blooded shot from close at the first post by Chinkhoslam was blocked by Panjim Footballers’ custodian Vipin Sharma.
However, in the 35th minute, Dempo SC’s finally took the lead with Chinkhoslam Dimngel tapping a cross from substitute Mevan Dias 1-0.
Just five minutes later, Dempo SC’s Faseen PK rose high above Panjim defenders to nod Rohan Mangaonkar free kick into the goal 2-0.
Just five minutes into the second session and Dempo SC should have further increased their lead but Chinkhoslam collecting a ball from his medio Arnold darted inside the penalty box dribbled past Panjim Footballers’ custodian but saw his placement being stopped by Panjim Footballers’ defender Darwin Carvalho on the goal line.
In the 89th minute, Panjim Footballers tried to get back into the match from a goal scored by skipper Maximo D’Costa with a neat header, 2-1.
However in the added time, Dempo SC’s Mevan Dias scored a gem of a goal to score with a diving header of Topan Minj cross 3-1.
Dempo SC’s Chinkhoslam Dimngel received the man-of-the-match award from the hands of Mario Agular, Dempo SC’s assistant coach.
