MAPUSA: Dnyanprassarak Vidyalaya High School, Mapusa and St Clara High School, Assonora won their respective matches to move ahead in U-17 boy’s Bardez Taluka Subroto Mukerjee football tournament organized by DSYA at Tivim ground, on Wednesday.
Dnyanprassarak Vidyalaya registered a solitary goal victory over Holy Cross High School, Bastora. After a barren first half, Danish Shaikh scored the match-winner with just two minutes remaining for the referee’s final whistle.
In the morning match, St Clara edged past St Theresa Higher Secondary School, Candolim 2-1. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time.
Nehal Shinde had given St Clara the lead but Ramnath Vingulrekar levelled the scores before the break.
Changing over, the teams put a tough fight but it was St Clara who had the last laugh after Nandesh Kauthankar scored the decisive goal.
