SOLVA -RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda edged past Raia Sporting Club 2-1 to win the Raia Sporting Club Festival final organised by Raia Sporting Club at Raia village panchayat ground on Friday.
Fatorda’s Francis Andrade was thwarted by Joswel Cardozo in the sixth minute in the nick of time. Then, Richie Vaz sent his effort over the bar in the 10th minute. Raia threatened through Lloyd Cardozo who all but found the net. Sarino Fernandes then opened the scoring for Fatorda with a powerful shot before half-time.
Cardozo equalized, slotting home in the 48th minute but Richie Vaz scored the match-winner with a glancing header in the 50th minute.
Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Domnic Gauncar ZP member, Fr Rony Fernandes, assistant parish priest of Our Lady of Snows Church, Raia and other dignitaries.
