Dunes SC prevail over Xetrapal SC

MAPUSA: Dunes Sports Club prevailed over Xetrapal Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to march into the quarter-finals of North Goa Yarri Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Saligao United, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Friday. 

Dunes SC started the game on attacking note and came close when Vivek Naik's rasping shot was saved by the rival goalkeeper. 

At the stroke of lemon time, Xetrapal SC conceded the goal when Vivek Naik slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot. Stung by a set-back, Xetrapal SC had golden chance to cancel the lead but Gopal squandered an open chance.

Crossing over, Dunes SC continue to enjoy the better share of exchanges and had a couple of scoring chances to increase their tally but Alberto Britto's attempt at the rival goal was well blocked by the rival goalkeeper.

 Dunes SC nearly doubled the lead but the rival goalkeeper punched the ball away to safety. 

Meanwhile, Xetrapal SC nearly scored the equaliser when Sagar's rasping shot was well blocked by the Dunes goalkeeper. 

With time running out, Sagar neutralized the lead for Xetrapal SC in injury time to put his team on equal terms .

In the penalty shoot-out, Shashank, Stepelton, Myson and Jeramia converted for Dunes SC while Vasu Deu, Gopal and Sagar found the mark for Xetrapal SC.
