PANJIM: Goa United Sports Academy and Goan Football Club recorded easy wins in their respective encounters in the Goa Football Association U-14 League matches, on Thursday.
While Goa United eased past El Shaddai Sports Club 3-1 at Poriat ground, Calangute, Goan FC made light work of Kelbai Sports Club with a 7-0 win.
It was about team effort which saw Goan FC dismantle young Kelbai team. There were five different scorers for the young Gaurs, who displayed an eye catching performance against their opponents.
Goan FC started the match on a slow pace but had their opponents under control. After much probing, the young Gaurs took the lead in the 19th minute through Ivo Costa.
Kelbai SC managed to hold Goan FC with their defensive play, but not for long as Rohan Mangaonkar doubled the tally in the 23rd minute. Goan FC led 2-0 at the break.
Crossing over, Reezvon Fernandes took the match beyond Kelbai’s reach and Prachit Gaonkar scored the team’s fourth goal in the 55th minute. In the final quarter, Velrose Dias netted a brace sandwiched with Prachit’s strike, who also managed to record a double.
At Poriat ground, Goa United Sports Academy led 2-0 at the break thanks to the first half goals from Mervin D’Souza and Harsh Munshi. In the second half, Premkumar Sharma added the third for the winning side. El Shaddai’s constant effort to score was successful as they pulled a goal back at the hour mark through Sayyed Arleshwar.
