FC Goa, Sirvodem PSA Dubai register wins

PANJIM: FC Goa and Sirvodem Sports Club PSA Dubai registered impressive wins on the opening day of the GFA - Vedanta Women’s League on Wednesday.

FC Goa came with a strong second half performance to score a commanding 3-0 win over United Club of Telaulim at Navelim, Sirvodem SC PSA Dubai ran riot over Compassion FC with a 10-0 win at Dramapur ground.

At Navelim, despite starting on equal terms, UC Telaulim managed to hold FC Goa in the first half to a goalless 45 minutes. 

Telaulim’s Reema Noronha was holding guard in the midfield and created problems for FC Goa strikers. However, the breakthrough came in the 52nd minute and it was Vailanka D’Souza whose power-packed long range shot had no answer from Telaulim keeper.

Once up by a goal, FC Goa scored two more through Velanie Fernandes in the 69th and 79th minutes to take the final tally to make it 3-0.

 She scored her first with a stunning freekick while her second was even better. 

On getting a loose ball in the midfield, Velanie took on her stronger right foot and slammed in the top corner to make it 3-0.

While it was Velanie at Navelim, it was Titli Sarkar who showed no mercy towards Compassion FC. Titli smashed in double hat-tricks scoring seven goals. Vinoshka Fernandes netted a brace and Raveena added the final nail in the coffin to record a massive 10-0 win against Compassion FC.

Earlier, the league was kick started in the presence of Derrick Pereira, Technical Director- FC Goa, Anthony Pango, Vice President, GFA-South, Carol Gomes, Chairman- GFA Womens committee, Melroy Moura- Head Operations , Sesa Football Academy , Arnold Costa, Vice Chairman, GFA Women's Committee.
