FM Nitish Belurkar wins 6th Tiswadi Taluka League Chess Tourney

PANJIM: FM Nitish Belurkar won the 6th Tiswadi Taluka League Chess tournament organised by Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association on lichess.com, recently. 

Nitish and Mandar Lad scored 8 points each but due to better tie-break, Nitish was declared the winner. 

Mandar Lad of Bardez Taluka stood second while Aayush Shirodkar of Salcete Taluka had to settle for third place with 7.5 points.

Nitish is so far the winner of 3 leagues and 2 times runner up from 6 league tournaments. The final winner will be declared by the Goa Chess Association at the end of the 12 Taluka League tournaments.

Other winners from fourth to 15th are, Ritviz Parab and Srilaxmi Kamat (7 points), Devesh Anand Naik, Shane Braganca, Sairaj Vernekar, Anirudh Parsekar, Reuben Colaco, Utkarsh Ganpule all scored 6.5 points each, Paarth Salvi, Alex Sequeira, Sairudra Nagvekar, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar scored 6 points each.

Category prize winners in U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13 in boys and girls, Best Women and Rating category: WCM Swera Braganca, Saras Summer Powar, Diya Sawal, Ethan Vaz, Vaishnavi Parab, Edrick Vaz, Joy Kakodkar, Valanka Fernandes and  Sayuri Naik.

A total of 110 participants took part in the tournament.
