CURCHOREM: Feagus Boys, Curchorem emerged champions of the all-Goa seven-a-side football tournament, defeating Gonvol Boyz by 2-0 in the final, organised by Guardian Angel Parish Youth, Curchorem at Figueireido ground, Cuchorem on Sunday.
Both sides started attacking each other's goal regularly from the word go. After a barren half post resumption Feagus in the 12th minute managed to open the account through their striker Myron Mendes.
As the match progressed Feagus increased their pace and troubled the rival defense with well-orchestrated raids which added one more goal to their tally at the fag end of the match again through Mendes. The final tally remained 2-0 as the opponents could not score even after their valiant efforts.
Feagus was richer by Rs 25,000 plus trophy while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 15,000. Individual prizes: Mendes of Feagus as best player and Altab of Amazing Boys as best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Parish Priest of Guardian Angel Church, Curchorem-Sanvordem, Fr Vital Miranda was the chief guest and gave away prizes in the presence of assistant parish Priest Fr Jovier Barreto and staff of the church Sebestiao Rodrigues and Nicolau.
