PANJIM: Francis Rodrigues of Margao won Cycling Goa’s second Summer XC (cross country) cycle race held in the Mhadei jungles on Sunday. 

Taking full advantage of the ‘handicap system’ where-in the more experienced cyclists started 40 minutes behind the rookies, Francis finished before the experienced riders to claim top spot. 

He was followed by Sundaram Narayanan of Panaji and Vinayak Gaonkar of Navelim in second and third positions respectively.

A total of 27 cyclists including one woman cyclist from across the State took part in this second part of Cycling Goa’s three-part Summer XC series.  

The event was supported by Escapades, Marin Bikes India, Polygon Bikes India, Sigma and Real. The medical support partner was Manipal Ambulance Response Service (MARS).
