Bethany Convent, OL Rosary HS win

CHINCHINIM: Bethany Convent edged past Mount Mary’s HS 3-2 in the UCV School Cup U-16 inter-school football tournament organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Monday. 

Mount Mary’s opened the account through Velrose Dias in the sixth minute while Adriano Pinto doubled the lead four minute later. Bethany reduced the margin through Ashwin Costa in the 13th minute. Daylan Rocha equalised in the 25th minute. In the second half Ashwin Costa scored the match-winner for Bethany Convent. Ashwin Costa was presented the man-of-the-match award by chief guest Joe Meny Furtado, Chairman of Union of Chinchinim Villagers.

In second match, Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda downed St Xavier’s HS, Velim 2-0.

The first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Rosary scored through Prasad Shinde and Yash Pawar.

 Fatorda goalkeeper Glen Faleiro was given the man-of-the-match award.


Tilamol Utd win shoot-out

DANDO-BENAULIM: Tilamol United got the better of Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the 43rd Cana-Benaulim soccer organised by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Monday.

The first half score remained blank.

In the second half, Cana Benaulim Sporting Association netted two quick goals through Osborne Fernandes and Kenneth Fernandes in the 40th and 42nd minutes respectively but the joy was short-lived as Tilamol levelled terms through Melvin Carvalho and Macklon Colaco in the 44th and 49th minutes respectively. In the tie-breaker, Tilamol United proved to be better shooters.

Tilamol United will now meet SAI Avtar, Anjuna in the quarter-finals on June 21.


Camarxet prevail

VIRABHAT-CURTORIM: Camarxet blanked St Anthony 2-0 to move into semi-finals of the 5th Jose and Franky Memorial inter-ward football tournament organised by Sporting Club of Virabhat (Curtorim), at St Alex church ground, on Monday. 

 Camarxet scored the first goal through Caitan Viegas’free-kick in the 10th minute. Two minutes later, St Anthony had the best chance to score but Percy Cardozo’s shot was well saved by the Camarxet keeper.

In second half Camarxet scored their second goal through a penalty kick taken by Caitan Viegas to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.

St Anthony’s Percy Cardozo received the emerging player-of-the-match award.
