PANJIM: The Executive Committee of the Goa Football Association decided to propose to the General Body to grant permanent affiliation to four clubs Mormugao United CSC, Ronit Sports Club, FC Tuem and Goan Warriors FC, in a meeting held in Panjim, on Tuesday.

GFA also took exception to the veiled attack by Churchill Alemao against the GFA in the media recently wherein it was alleged that their relations with the AIFF and other sports bodies were not properly maintained.

In a statement issued, GFA President Elvis Gomes said that it would be better for him to focus on a positive campaign for his election than to drag the present GFA into any controversy.

Gomes said that he admitted that he did not know the art of making or breaking relations with individual persons who are in official chairs as he believes in strong systems to be in place that should respond rather than the whims or fancies of any individuals.

Gomes said that the only time he remembers to have come in conflict with the AIFF was when the club Churchill Bros was thrown out of the I-League by an unrelenting AIFF for failing to meet the AFC Licensing criteria when the other three I-League clubs from Goa had easily passed it, "When Churchill Brothers was thrown out for failure to pass AFC club licensing criteria, GFA took on the AIFF and wrote a stinging letter which was used by Churchill Bros in the Delhi High Court. Senior AIFF office bearers and officials had told me to back off but I stood my ground as the whole GFA body supported me. That had led to differences," said Gomes.

Regarding the non inclusion of Goan players in the U-17 World Cup, Gomes said that he did not wish to go into the issue again and again as GFA’s position was already clarified before the public as well as the General body which was not attended by Churchill Alemao.

Gomes added that it would be better to go for a debate on a common platform instead of shooting from different places if there were issues to be addressed in public.

GFA also approved extension of time for the renewal registration to May 31 on payment of late fees.

It was also decided to commence the construction of the additional changing rooms at Duler Stadium.
