PANJIM: The Goa Football Association revealed they are yet to decide on the number of teams that would be included in the Goa Professional league for the upcoming season.

"There have been four requests for a direct entry in the Goa Professional League this year, however the committee is yet to decide on inclusion of direct teams. The same will be decided by taking all the factors into consideration," said GFA President Elvis Gomes in a statement.

Presently, eleven teams are playing in the league on home and away basis with one team getting relegated to the First Division and one team being promoted from the First Division.

In a major departure from the established norms, the GFA in the last season included FC Bardez through a direct entry.

Meanwhile, the GFA has convened a Special Executive Committee Meeting to deliberate upon a various innovative formats being proposed such as futsal, beach soccer and others and decide on the way forward taking into account the interest of sponsors of clubs and also ensuring that activities do not have effect on the development of mainstream football.
