Panjim: The Goa Sports Foundation(GSF) has sought the compulsory introduction of playing facilities to all new schools.
President of Goa Sports Foundation (GSF) Roque Dias and General Secretary Licio Roncon called on the Governor of Goa P S Sreedharan Pillai and sought his intervention in introducing a concept wherein all new schools have playing surfaces for outdoor and indoor facilities of International standard.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, the GSF requested necessary direction to the Secretary (Education) to amend the education policy of Goa at the earliest so that schools have FIFA approved grassy surface football ground which would be monitored by Goa Football Association besides synthetic surface, approved by the International Federation and monitored by concerned State Sports Association.
The GFS also sought to penalty clause to be added if playing facilities are not maintained.
Being involved in multi sports disciplines as President of State Sports Associations in Kerala, Sreedharan agreed that the availability and quality of sports infrastructure is a prerequisite for a country to achieve success at international level.
