MAPUSA/RAIA: Geno FC registered a well deserved 4-1 win over Guardian Angel SC in the GFA's Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday.

Geno FC having lost to Dempo SC in their last GPL match started aggressively and scored two early goals.

In the 6th minute, a deadly cross by Chaitan Komarpant slipped from the gloves of Guardian Angel SC’s custodian Oswin Rodrigues to find Prajay Gawde who was lurking nearby tap the ball into the goal 1-0.

Six minutes later, Geno colts doubled their lead this time medio Meinam Musharaf moved upfront from the right flank hoodwinked Guardian Angel SC’s Velon Rebello and entering the 18-yard box drilled a power-packed right footer which crashed into the far corner of the goal 2-0.

Geno FC’s Meinam almost netted his brace in the 22nd minute, but his header from close sailed over the crossbar. Meinam another glorious chance went a begging as his fierce strike was blocked by keeper Oswin.

At the other end, a stinging 25-yard grounder by Guardian Angel SC’s Brivon Dias was brilliantly pushed for a corner, with a full stretched diving save by Geno FC’s custodian Akshat Hadkonkar.

In the 35th minute, Geno FC’s Meinam handled the ball inside the penalty box prompting Referee Jan Rodrigues to point to the dreaded spot.

Guardian Angel SC’s skipper Gilbert Oliveira stepped forward and scored 2-1.

Five minutes before the breather Guardian Angel SC’s keeper Oswin blocked Geno FC’s Chaitan Komarpant strike at the first post for a corner.

On crossing over, Geno FC colts carried on their onslaught and scored two more goals through Abelson Jachi and Krishna Gawas.

Geno FC’s Aryan Singh Chawan received the man-of-the-match award from Uday Lingudkar, GFA’s executive member.

Nagao Village Panchayat ground witnessed a gripping encounter as Pax of Nagoa SC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Calangute Association. 

Pax of Nagoa Midfielder Desmon Gama missed a chance to score in the very third minute. On the other hand, Calangute Association Defender Dangmei Gaipuilan missed the Pax of Nagoa target by whiskers in the sixth minute.

It was Pax of Nagoa U-21 player Climax Fernandes who netted the first goal of the match with a close range power-packed shot. Calangute Association equalised through Dangmei Gaipuilan in the 41st minute.

As the match progressed in the second half, Pax of Nagoa substitute Shubert Pereira, netted the match winner in the 8th minute.
