MAPUSA: Princton Rebello scored the lone goal which gave Goan Football Club narrow edge over Bardez Football Club in the Goa Professional league match organised by GFA played, at Duler stadium, here, on Saturday.

With Saturday's win, Goan FC remain on third spot with 39 points from 16 matches while Bardez FC struggle at the league continue as they remain bottom of the table with 6 points from 20 matches.

Young Gaurs who had the major share of the ball possession had nothing to show on the score line for the first 30 minutes as Bardez defended resolutely.

However in the 31st minute, Princeton Rebello after outsmarting a couple of Bardez defenders with his silky footwork the keeper with a firm grounder to give the lead.

Goan FC almost doubled their lead in the 37th minute but Bardez keeper Hrushikesh Kinalekar stretched out to keep out Hayden Fernandes’ 35 yard free-kick from sneaking into the far corner of the net.

Bardez FC had once decent attempt to level terms in the 41st minute but Richard Cardoz’s shot was off target after being found by Rudresh Mandrekar.

Changing ends in the 61st minute, Young Gaurs’s Lalawmpuia controlling an intelligent pass from Sweden inside the danger box could not keep his shot within the goal.

Goan FC had another chance in the 72nd minute to kill off the match, but Hayden’s well struck free-kick managed to get over the Bardez wall but went inches past the goal post.
