Goans Hockey hold Delhi to 1-1 draw

PANJIM: Goans Hockey and Delhi Hockey played out a 1-1 draw, in the 12th Hockey India sub-junior men’s National championship played at Hockey Astro Turf, at Peddem Sports Complex, Mapusa, Goa on Thursday.

The first quarter started off with a goal for Delhi from their player Afridi and they were good with their skills, ball possession, and offence.

In the fourth quarter Goa’s Anand Kumar managed to tear down the Delhi defence and score a great goal making the score a tie, Delhi also had its moments here and there but couldn’t manage to put a goal in their bag. 

Elsewhere, Maharashtra edged out Assam 2-1. The northeastern side opened their account through Swayam Gangurde but their lead didn't last long as the holdup possession play led to the Maharashtrian side finding the opening and scoring a goal to level the scoreboard. 

A toughly fought second quarter ended with the Assamese team in the driver's seat as the scoreboard read 2-1 in their favour.

In the other matches, Manipur thrashed Hockey Himachal 12-4. 

Punjab destroyed Puducherry 25-0.
