RAIA: Guardian Angel SC edged past Curtorim Gymkhana 6-5 via tie-breaker to emerge champions in the All Goa Guardian Angel Festival Soccer - inter-village football tournament played at Curchorem, on Tuesday. Both teams were tied goalless in the normal time.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Norman Dias, Keegan Fernandes, Clifford Diniz, Airen Fernandes, Godwin D’Costa and Alvito Dcunha netted for Guardian Angel SC, while Aliston Fernandes, Marcus Fernandes, Savio Peixoto, Fredy and Hilario netted for Curtorim Gymkhana. The winners and runners-up were richer by Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 plus trophies, respectively.
Rohan Gauns Dessai, secretary of Goa Cricket Association was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Balkrishna Hodarkar, Celina Fernandes, Custodio Fernandes, Antonio Pango, Fr Vital Miranda, Fr Thomas Gonsalves, Fr Joaquim Rebello and Tony Coutinho, Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council councillor.
