MARGAO: Guardian Angel Sports Club finished their campaign with a 1-1draw in their final league encounter against Calangute Association in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Sunday.

Guardian Angel SC finished on 27 points from 22 matches while Calangute Association are on 20 points from 19 matches.

Both the goals were scored in the first 45 minutes while the second half turned out to be a drab affair.

However, the story isn’t what it looks like as there were chances created by the teams but both lacked finishing.

Guardian Angel SC wasted chances through Bamba Musah and Yakubu who were denied by a good goalkeeping from Calangute’s Sanij Bugde.

Calangute Association had their chances but Vineet Bugde and Jobern couldn’t get past the last line. 

They finally scored through Valerio Rodrigues in the 42nd minute when he lobbed the ball over the onrushing keeper but the ball hit the last man Guardian Angel SC’s Benzu Clemente and entered the goal.

However, Guardian Angel SC came with an instant reply as they scored in the 44th minute through Bamba Musah who nodded in from a corner kick.

Bamba Musah scored his sixth goal of the season.

In the second half, Guardian Angel SC once again failed to take their chances through Allwyn Vaz, who came in as a second half substitute.

While Guardian Angel SC keeper was also at his best in stopping Calangute Association players from scoring in the second session.

Guardian Angel SC almost scored the winner through James Fernandes, but his long range effort which beat the rival keeper, however hit the post.
